Industry calls for LED standards to introduce standards to enforce self-discipline

Mencius has a cloud, "not to be a rule, not a square", stress that to do anything, you must abide by the corresponding rules, standards and norms, otherwise it will not succeed.

Nowadays, the LED industry is eating the lack of standards. The low-priced and inferior products quickly seize the terminal. The high-end brands have been approved as “ungrounded”. Although the industry standards are long-awaited, they are still lingering. .

“The industry needs to set standards as soon as possible. The requirement for product quality is the most basic respect for consumers. At the same time, it can also achieve standardized production as a manufacturer, which is of great benefit to lowering product prices,” said Ye Chang, director of Shike Lighting Market.

As an important component of the strategic emerging industry in the 12th Five-Year Plan, the government has always spared no effort in promoting the introduction of standards. For example, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently publicly collected the revised opinions on the "LED Bulb Performance Requirements", and the national standard introduced the policy dawn.

According to the "Lighting Channels" reporter, the revised performance indicators include QBCPZT1157-2013 "LED bulb performance requirements", QBCPZT1159-2013 "surface LED lighting technical requirements", QBFFZT1160-2013 "LED lighting measurement methods", QBFFZT1161 -2013 "LED Lights - Accelerated Life Evaluation Method", etc., all of which are CQC non-mandatory standards.

According to some insiders, "the LED industry has never lacked local standards, and the lack of national uniform standards." Previously, LED local standards including Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Jiangxi were introduced, and some of them also had strong local protectionism. The introduction of this standard is not mandatory, and it gives people more room for imagination.

Industry calls for standards

For LED lighting, at present, there are at least 10 national standards such as GB/T24823-2009 "Performance Requirements for LED Modules for General Lighting" and GB/T24827-2009 "Performance Requirements for Roads and Street Lighting", but these standards are in use. Most of them focus on outdoor LED street lights and tunnel lights, and there are no relevant standards for indoor lighting.

“There is no standard for indoor lighting. We are all opening and producing according to the needs of our customers. Due to the differences in customer needs, most of the molds can only be used once, which takes time and effort.” Liu Shiquan, general manager of Jing Lande Lighting, said .

Ye Chang also mentioned that if standard production can be realized in terms of lamp interfaces and accessories, this will firstly save the cost of R&D and production; secondly, it can participate in the competition in the national market, not just in the local market.

At the same time, with the continuous decline in the price of LED lighting, the acceptance of end consumers is increasing, and the demand for indoor lighting, especially the home lighting market, is increasing. However, the current terminal market is still in the state of “low price is king”, and many traditional brands cannot stand on the terminal because of the “ungrounded” price. Therefore, the standard carries the expectations of everyone to regulate the market.

"Traditional lighting has been developed so far, and the relevant standards are very mature. Under the constraints of the standards, many small and medium-sized enterprises that have won the price war in the past have disappeared, and NVC, Sanxiong, Op, Jiamei and other brand enterprises occupy the vast majority. For some traditional energy-saving lamps market share, setting standards is very beneficial for regulating the lighting market." Yu Jing, vice president of Xinli Light Source, mentioned.

It can be seen that the introduction of industry standards is mainly based on two aspects: first, standardization of production reduces costs, and secondly, eliminates the market situation of “bad money expelling good money” in the terminal market.

"In fact, as long as the standardization of production can be achieved, the price will be lowered, and the bad money will naturally withdraw from the market. Under the same price, consumers will choose the brand is unquestionable," Ye Chang said.

Standard execution focuses on self-discipline

Aside from the state's efforts in standard setting, some local governments, including Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Fujian, are also actively developing local standards that meet local LED development.

In January last year, the Guangdong Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau and the Provincial Science and Technology Department jointly issued the "LED Lighting Industry Standard System Planning and Roadmap", planning to complete the revision of 87 local standards in Guangdong Province within three years.

Subsequently, the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Standardization led the establishment of LED lighting standard technology alliances with 15 enterprises and institutions to jointly promote the planning and implementation of the standard system.

On May 6, 2010, the Jiangxi Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau reviewed the standards of “LED Tube Lights for Indoor Lighting” and “LED Bulbs for Indoor Lighting” drafted by Jiangxi Lianchuang Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., and finally passed the approval as a place. The sex standard was released.

"In fact, the industry is not lacking standards. The key is whether companies can strictly follow the standards." Jiang Guangjun, product manager of Tsinghua Tongfang, said that many projects now require products to undergo 3C or CQC standards for acceptance, but the projects are all large. Enterprises, their product performance parameters may be higher than the standard, so the standard binding force for large enterprises is not large.

“A company has a sense of responsibility, which is the key to making a good product. It has little to do with standards.” Yu Jing mentioned that although traditional lighting has also been introduced, the terminal market has many examples of shoddy.

Therefore, even if the national standard is introduced, some enterprises in the terminal market will not follow the standards. Therefore, it is better to call the standard to lower the price of the product.

Some designers also believe that lighting design emphasizes creativity and standardization of production is not conducive to lighting design.

Recently, at the launching ceremony of “Star Hotel Lighting Standards Establishment” held by Qinshang Optoelectronics and related hotel associations, Bai Wanzhu lighting designer Bai Wanjun expressed this concern. He believes that lighting standards will help improve quality. There is a constraint on lighting design.

Landmarks need to move closer to the national standard

Leading by local governments or local industry associations, there are many different versions of current LED local standards. In order to protect the interests of local enterprises, local governments will consider the current actual situation in terms of standard setting and have local protection.

Yu Jing believes that only by abandoning local standards and moving closer to national standards, enterprises can get rid of the local market and integrate into the national market competition; only by moving closer to national standards, whether it is to participate in government project bidding or establish a domestic famous brand, can there be enough Chips.

If the alley is too deep, the wine can not be scaled up, which is also very unfavorable for the development of the company.

Jiang Guangjun also said that the current domestic 3C and CQC standards are non-mandatory and have limited binding on enterprises.

The development trend of the future national standards will inevitably move towards mandatory, and harden the market entry barrier. Only in this way can we really expel the bad money from the end market and let the good money bring benefits to the end consumers.
