Intel IoT Technology Officer: Most industry IoT applications are still in the connectivity phase

The Internet of Things is a very big concept involving a wide range of industries, including transportation, security, retail, industry and more. The development level of the Internet of Things in different industries is different. Transportation is an industry that is relatively fast and relatively mature.

Intel has roughly divided the development of the Internet of Things into three phases:

The first stage is to connect the unconnected device.

The second phase is to do more intelligence inside, and to find useful information from the data collected by the Internet of Things.

The third stage is an autonomous stage. With such sufficient information, the whole system can develop independently and then take some corresponding measures autonomously.

The definition of these three stages is now in the first stage in most industries, the most typical application in industry. In industrial systems, some data on many production lines have not been collected. Many devices generate data, but since these devices are not connected to the Internet, they are not aggregated. The transportation industry is likely to be in the second stage. The traffic data has been collected to the back-end provincial or departmental control centers, but a lot of data has already begun to do a lot of analysis work, which has been discovered from the inside. Some useful information, no matter how to deal with some violations, or the handling of stability in some public security has played a big role, this is the second stage. Further development is the third stage. What the third stage looks like has a lot to do with the needs of our users. Many users work hard together to do this.

Take traffic as an example. For example, when I am interested in which car, at what time and in what position, according to the needs of such users, the license plate, the model, and the color of the vehicle can be used as some characteristic information. In the solution, the processing information is forwarded to some cameras at the front end or to the NVRs at the back for processing and filtering. After the filtering is completed, the information of these features is transmitted to the subsequent control center for further data collision. The data collected by different cameras is aggregated to form the trajectory of the entire car in the whole city. This is some of the methods that Intel is currently dealing with.
