At the Geneva Motor Show, Subaru unveiled the VIZIV2 concept car, which serves as a design blueprint for the future generation of the Subaru Forester. Unlike some previous concepts that were more of a "concept" than a real production model, this one is highly realistic and expected to be developed into a mass-produced vehicle without any major changes. Based on Subaru's consistent design language over the past five years, the next-gen Forester is likely to hit the market between this year and next, with an estimated price range of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan.
New Generation Subaru Forester: Design
The VIZIV2 concept features a bold hexagonal grille with three layers of chrome finish, a design that has already appeared on the new Legacy. The headlights are C-shaped LED units, while the fog lights are styled like snowflakes, paired with circular daytime running lights. These elements give the front end a high-tech feel. Most of these design cues will carry over to the upcoming Forester replacement model.
The side profile showcases large polished alloy wheels, with carbon fiber accents on the wheel arches for a futuristic look. A C-shaped chrome emblem sits at the top of the wheel arch. The body lines are sleek and forward-looking, giving the impression of a two-door coupe when the doors are closed—though it's actually a four-door model. The rear doors feature a sliding mechanism, while the front doors open like butterfly wings. The roof is a panoramic sunroof, offering an open and airy interior space.
New Generation Subaru Forester: Interior Design
The interior of the VIZIV2 concept is designed to feel futuristic, with materials and finishes that closely resemble what we might expect in the production version. One standout feature is the advanced driver-assistance system, which goes beyond traditional start-stop technology. This system uses road data to optimize energy efficiency by adjusting the vehicle’s power output based on real-time conditions, making it more intelligent and efficient.
New Generation Subaru Forester: Power System
The new Forester will be powered by a hybrid system combining a 1.6-liter horizontally opposed turbocharged diesel engine with a CVT transmission. The four-wheel drive system includes an electric motor that can independently power the front and rear wheels, enhancing stability during turns. This setup improves handling and performance, especially on curved roads, ensuring better control and safety for drivers.
