The secret of Facebook's success is hardware products, software is no longer unique

Facebook has undergone a significant transformation in its approach to virtual reality over the past few years. Initially, the company focused primarily on software development, but as it aimed to create a true virtual reality ecosystem, hardware became a major challenge. Now, Facebook is shifting its strategy, emphasizing that both hardware and software are essential for success in the VR space. The rapid development and release of hardware products are seen as crucial to achieving long-term growth in this emerging market. A few years ago, CEO Mark Zuckerberg suggested that Facebook was unlikely to become a major player in VR hardware, instead aiming to be a leading software platform that delivers an immersive social experience. In a 2016 interview, he stated, “We mainly focus on software, but in the process of developing any new platform, you really need to do both hardware and software.” This perspective has since evolved as the company recognizes the importance of hardware integration. At the recent Oculus Connect conference, Facebook launched the Oculus Go, a standalone VR headset priced at $199. Unlike the original Oculus Rift, which requires a PC, the Go operates independently. However, it lacks advanced tracking sensors, limiting its functionality compared to other high-end headsets like the HTC Vive or PlayStation VR. While the Go offers an affordable entry point, it may not satisfy users looking for a more powerful VR experience. Oculus Go also uses a simpler controller compared to the Rift’s advanced motion controllers. Despite these limitations, Facebook is preparing a more powerful standalone device called Santa Cruz. It will feature built-in tracking sensors and advanced controllers, along with a Snapdragon 835 processor, similar to those found in high-end Android phones. This suggests that Facebook is working toward creating a more capable VR experience. While the company plans to release Santa Cruz to developers next year, consumers may have to wait a bit longer. Meanwhile, competitors like Google, HTC, and Lenovo are also pushing forward with their own standalone headsets. For Facebook to truly succeed in the VR space, it must continue investing in and accelerating the development of hardware products. The future of virtual reality depends on both innovation and accessibility, and Facebook is clearly stepping up its game.

Steel Structures

Steel structures can be used in many industries such as foundation reinforce, electric power transmission structures and tubular scaffolding, etc.

A flange can also be a plate or ring to form a rim at the end of a pipe when fastened to the pipe. A blind flange is a plate for covering or closing the end of a pipe. A flange joint is a connection of pipes, where the connecting pieces have flanges by which the parts are bolted together.

Although the word flange generally refers to the actual raised rim or lip of a fitting, many flanged plumbing fittings are themselves known as 'flanges':

There are many different flange standards to be found worldwide. To allow easy functionality and interchangeability, these are designed to have standardised dimensions. Common world standards include ASA/ASME (USA), PN/DIN (European), BS10 (British/Australian), and JIS/KS (Japanese/Korean). In the USA, ANSI stopped publishing B16.5 in 1996, and the standard is ASME B16.5
