Acura is a Japanese luxury sub-brand, but unlike Infiniti or Lexus, it's not as well-known to the general public. Even though Acura has been competing in the same segment as the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, its presence hasn't been as strong. In 2016, after GAC formed a joint venture with Yangge, the first domestically produced model, CDX, didn’t achieve significant sales success.

This lack of visibility is partly due to Acura’s low-key marketing strategy. However, with the release of the new generation mid-size SUV, the Acura RDX, things may change. According to current production and marketing plans, this RDX could become a key player in Acura’s battle against the BBA (Benz, BMW, Audi) in the mid-luxury segment.

Interestingly, the new RDX is built on the same platform as Honda’s new CR-V. This has led some to question whether it can justify a price tag above 400,000 yuan. But it's important to note that sharing a platform doesn’t mean the final product is the same. For example, Audi uses the Bentley platform, yet they are two completely different brands. The same applies here—design, branding, and engineering differences still make the RDX unique.

The new RDX features a matrix LED headlight design, which is a signature element of Acura. Its starlight grille also stands out, offering a more distinctive look compared to Lexus’ lightning grille or BMW’s kidney grille. This design is not only more personalized but also harder to copy, especially for Chinese brands that often face accusations of imitation.

On the exterior, the new RDX takes a bolder approach with more straight lines, especially on the C-pillar and D-pillar, giving it a sharper and more defined look. The roof line is flatter and more angular, contributing to a more robust and confident visual appearance. This design language sets it apart from competitors in the same class, offering a unique sense of strength and style.

In terms of power, the new RDX is equipped with the same 2.0T turbocharged engine found in the B-class sedan, but with an upgraded output of 272 horsepower. While this is impressive, it still lags behind the overall performance and reliability of models like Lexus. However, the introduction of a 10-speed automatic transmission gives it a technological edge. Despite these improvements, Acura will need to focus more on marketing and pricing if it wants to truly compete with models like the Q5.

The air in the cavity is wrapped inside the casting to form subcutaneous pores, so aluminum alloy die castings should not be heat treated, and zinc alloy die castings should not be sprayed on the surface (but can be painted). Otherwise, the internal pores of the casting will expand due to thermal expansion and cause the casting to deform or bubble when the above-mentioned treatment is performed. In addition, the mechanical cutting allowance of die castings should also be smaller, generally around 0.5mm, which can not only reduce the weight of castings, reduce the amount of cutting to reduce costs, but also avoid penetrating the surface dense layer and exposing subcutaneous pores, causing The workpiece is scrapped.
