The Galaxy Design Platform has become a key enabler for FinFET technology, with over 90% of FinFET-based production flows relying on it. This achievement highlights Synopsys' strong leadership in digital and custom design tools for advanced process nodes.
More than 20 global industry leaders have successfully taped out over 100 FinFET designs using the Galaxy platform. Major foundries like Samsung, Intel Custom Foundry, and Global Foundries have adopted and certified the platform, supporting a wide range of customers such as Achronix, HiSilicon, Marvell, and NVIDIA. These applications span across consumer electronics, wireless communications, graphics processing, and network infrastructure.
FinFET technology offers significant benefits, including higher density, improved power efficiency, and better performance. To fully leverage these advantages, the Galaxy Design Platform includes innovative tools that handle complex design rules associated with 3D transistor structures. Synopsys collaborates closely with foundries to ensure all tools are updated for new process changes, including multiple exposure techniques and local interconnects.
Key tools in the platform include Design Compiler for logic synthesis, TetraMAX for ATPG, IC Compiler and IC Compiler II for place and route, PrimeTime for timing analysis, StarRC for parasitic extraction, HSPICE and CustomSim for simulation, Galaxy Custom Designer and Laker for layout, and IC Validator for physical verification.
