The ST8500 is a high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) featuring a quad-core DSP processor and an ARM® Cortex®-M4F core for real-time protocol processing. It includes dedicated memory for each processor, along with a smart meter-specific peripheral interface, such as an AES encryption engine and an analog front end (AFE) for connection to the STLD1 line driver. The ST8500 consumes less than 100mW, ensuring ultra-low power consumption and compliance with the latest energy efficiency standards. The STLD1 line driver delivers high communication reliability, even in noisy environments. It offers low impedance, strong drive capability, and high linearity across a wide voltage range—either 18V single-ended or 36V differential mode.
