Although successful in winning the bid, the new project is a more complex geological environment than before, which is a big challenge for Zhonglong. Chen Bin said that unlike the Yangtze River Tunnel, which is a river tunnel, the Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Tunnel is a submarine tunnel. Due to different geological conditions, they are also excavated differently. The Yangtze River Tunnel adopts the shield method, while the Qingdao Tunnel adopts the mining method. This method has very high requirements on the corrosion of the lamps in terms of water seepage, salt and alkali, etc., and the humidity requirement for the lamps is 100%.

In the scale of application of LED tunnel lights, the Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Tunnel is larger than the Yangtze River Tunnel. The Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Tunnel is 7.8 kilometers long. There is no long Yangtze River tunnel, but the entire lighting uses LED light source. For the 2011 tunnel light project in Shanxi Province, which is widely expected in the market, Zhonglong Transportation said that the chances of getting the project are not great. Chen Bin revealed that there is a requirement for the project launched in Shanxi Province in 2011, that is, to use its own products.
