The first LED bulb automatic production line of South Asia Photovoltaic Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Formosa and Formosa Plastics Group, was completed, but Dongbei is not planning to build a fully automated production line. A spokesman for Dongbei said that the current semi-automatic production line should be used as soon as possible. As for the fully automatic production line, it will be the future market demand situation and then decide whether to build it.
Dongbei said that in the fourth quarter of 2012, the traditional off-season backlight demand slowed down slightly, but LED lighting was warmed up due to European and American demand, and shipments were not bad. In the first half of the fourth quarter, LED bulbs shipped about 50,000 in a single month. In the second half of the season, it will increase to 100,000 in a single month, and the total shipment in a single season will be about 200,000. It is estimated that the shipments in the first quarter of this year will remain at around 200,000.
At present, the front line of LED bulbs has been pulled up to replace 60-watt incandescent bulbs. Dongbei estimates that the future terminal price of 8-watt bulbs will reach US$8 (about NT$232). Despite the decline in terminal prices, Dongbei believes that rising demand will drive overall shipment growth, and LED lighting production will continue to increase.
