Artificial Intelligence Application Ascends Shanghai Accelerated Development of Artificial Intelligence Industry

Artificial intelligence is currently experiencing rapid growth, especially in fields like autonomous driving, computer vision, and intelligent robotics. These technologies are now transitioning from experimental stages to full-scale industrialization. On the 28th, Huaxia Core unveiled its domestically developed high-end processors and AI chips in Songjiang, Shanghai, marking a significant step forward in China's AI industry development. Mao Junfa, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and dean of the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, emphasized that AI is a key direction for future technological advancement. He pointed out that the success of AI applications heavily relies on powerful computing hardware. Compared to the past, when China lacked core IT technologies during the PC era, the AI era offers a unique opportunity for China to not only catch up but potentially lead globally with its self-developed chips. From human-like vision systems in cars to smart assistants on mobile phones and home robots capable of understanding human language, AI is set to transform industries worldwide. Its influence will extend across sectors, reshaping global economic landscapes and creating new opportunities for innovation and growth. The State Council’s “New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan” outlines ambitious goals: by 2020, China aims to match global leaders in AI technology and application, making the AI industry a major driver of economic growth. Similarly, the Shanghai Municipal Government has released its own “Implementation Opinions on the Development of a New Generation of Artificial Intelligence,” aiming to establish five AI clusters and nurture around ten leading AI companies, with the sector’s scale expected to exceed 100 billion yuan by 2020. On the same day, the Shanghai Lingang AI Industrial Base was officially launched, and several landmark AI companies, including Horizon, Tree Root, Baidu Innovation Center, and the Eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, signed agreements to join the base. This move is expected to accelerate innovation and collaboration within the AI ecosystem. Additionally, the Songjiang District Investment Promotion Service Center and the Dongfeng Town People’s Government signed cooperation agreements with Huaxia Core and Shanghai Zeroplus Investment Management Co., Ltd., focusing on deepening AI-related initiatives and promoting the growth of AI industries and clusters in Songjiang and beyond. According to reports from Shanghai Songjiang, the G60 AI Industrial Base has already attracted over 80 AI-related companies. In October this year, it was recognized as a specialized industrial base by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Torch Center. Gao Yong, deputy head of Songjiang District, stated that in the coming period, the district will accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into market-driven innovations, helping them reach the "highway" of commercial success.
