At the end of 2017, several leading brands in the high-definition player industry, including Haimeidi, Tencent Cloud Xiaowei, Tencent Video Penguin Aurora, Harman, and Hass, introduced a brand-new product that surprised many. However, this wasn’t just another high-definition player—it marked Haimeidi’s first smart home audio-visual robot designed for the AI era. The new V3 model integrates cameras, speakers, and set-top box functions, offering video calls, home care, 4K playback, smart speaker features, and home automation. Its launch created a big buzz in the industry, sparking a lot of anticipation.
After nearly three months of waiting, we finally got our hands on the AI-powered audio-visual robot V3. The packaging was quite large, and upon opening, it was clear that the device was well-protected with thick foam padding. Inside, the V3 was wrapped carefully, giving an impression of quality and attention to detail.
The unit is covered in a professional speaker cloth, and the Harman/Kardon logo on the side hints at its premium audio capabilities. It also includes a built-in microphone array, allowing it to function as an intelligent voice assistant. The design is sleek, with a piano-like finish that looks elegant but is prone to fingerprints.
Alongside the main unit, the package included a remote control, power cable, HDMI cable, warranty card, user manual, and even a red envelope card—adding a nice touch of tradition. The remote control resembles those used for Xiaomi TVs, with a slightly different layout and a few extra buttons.
The V3 features a top-mounted Haimeidi logo, with two small holes likely serving as microphone ports. At the bottom, there are multiple interfaces: one USB 3.0, one optical port, one HDMI, and a wired network connection. A Bluetooth pairing process is required during setup, followed by screen calibration and Wi-Fi configuration.
Thanks to the Tencent Cloud micro-system, the V3 allows users to log in via QR code or skip the step. An automatic update prompt appears if connected to the internet, ensuring the system stays up-to-date. The interface is simple and intuitive, emphasizing both voice and visual interaction.
