Collection and utilization of natural light in buildings

The VELUX (Germany) Training Center building was completed on June 21, 2007 in the location of VELUX (Germany) GmbH in Gotha, Thuringia. It is a perfect building that combines daylight, fresh air and expansive views, a platform for information and communication with partners, and a model for the future of architecture.

How to make reasonable use of natural light

The VELUX (Germany) Training Center building uses the latest technology and follows a long history and cultural tradition. In the process of constructing this new type of building, we abandoned the conventional air conditioning technology, and adopted the climate regulation concept with future development trends, successfully applying the new adjustment technology of daylight and air. All buildings are built using standard products and use several different types of INTEGRA electronic windows and their variants; VELUX roof windows can be installed outdoors and “open-air” system solutions with CABRIOTM window fittings Solar collectors that can provide hot water; electronically controlled sunshade equipment with shading function, outdoor installation of roller blinds, external blinds and a sensor-controlled automatic regulator for thermal insulation. Therefore, the perfect products and equipment in the training building have become the reference for everyone to evaluate the quality of VELUX.

“A natural air conditioning concept injects new vitality into the building. The comprehensive and rational use of daylight and the creative interpretation of the basic principles perfectly constitute the design of this project.” – Jane Osterman and Heidi Fletcher, Osterman Architecture

Based on the need for space functions and climate preconditions, we decided to build the building on this vast and flat land. This east-west building covers an area of approximately 24 x 44 meters. The use area is about 940 square meters, the factory is facing south, and the supporting facilities have lanes and open-air parking as well as main passages.
