The China International Big Data Industry Expo Organizing Committee recently held a press conference, where it announced the official launch of the "Two Sessions, One Exhibition, One Competition" — the Fusion Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Global Competition. This event is the only competition under the 2018 China International Big Data Industry Expo, alongside the official unveiling of the artificial intelligence open innovation platform.
Hosted by the China International Big Data Industry Expo Organizing Committee, the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Alliance, Intel (China) Co., Ltd., Guiyang Block Data City Construction Co., Ltd., and Guizhou Youte Cloud Technology Co., Ltd., the competition will open registration on February 10th. It plans to establish six regional divisions in China, the United States, and Israel, with semi-finals and finals taking place in Guiyang, China, in late May 2018.
This global competition is open to participants from across the world. It aims to gather over 50 top AI experts and more than 100 investors, benefiting over 10,000 innovative developers. The initiative is designed to promote high-quality innovation projects and stimulate the development of AI technologies for economic and social progress. It is expected to attract over 1,000 teams from around the world to contribute to an international AI exchange platform, supporting the growth of the big data fusion innovation ecosystem.
The event was witnessed by several key figures, including Lu Shan, Dean of CCID Research Institute and Deputy Secretary General of the Guizhou Provincial People's Government, Ma Ningyu, Director of the Guizhou Big Data Development Administration, Wang Peng, Vice President of the CCID Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry, Xu Wei, Vice Mayor of Guiyang Municipal People's Government, Li Desheng, General Manager of Intel (China) Strategic Cooperation and Innovation Business Unit, Professor from Tsinghua University’s State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Technology and Systems, and Deng Zhidong, Chairman of the Expert Committee of the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Alliance.
The total prize pool for the competition is 5 million yuan. In addition to cash rewards, winning projects may also be showcased at the 2018 Digital Expo. The official expo website will feature the results, and participating teams can take part in other related events.
Winning teams will also have opportunities to access industrial policy support, venture capital funding, free platform and data resources, and low-cost access to innovation accelerators.
To better align the competition with real-world applications and address societal challenges, the organizing committee has provided teams with actual scenarios and industry data covering ten sectors, including transportation, healthcare, and public welfare.

This marks a major milestone following the strategic cooperation agreement signed in August of the previous year between the Guiyang Municipal Government, Intel, and the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Alliance.

The platform offers foundational infrastructure, resource management, application development services, and includes incubation and acceleration functions. Additionally, it acts as a key platform for the global AI innovation competition and a showcase window for the 2018 Expo to highlight China’s AI achievements.
