The Korean warship visited Qingdao Port and was rejected by the South Korean side to speculate that China "punished Seoul"

On December 15th, the Russian media said that the Chinese authorities prohibited several South Korean warships carrying about 600 naval officer schools from entering Qingdao Port. The Korean media believes that Beijing is in this way "punishing" Seoul's decision to deploy the US "Sade" anti-missile system and sign the "Military Intelligence Protection Agreement" with Japan.

According to the "Russian newspaper" website reported on December 13, South Korea and the United States disregarded the Sino-Russian protests earlier this year signed an agreement on the deployment of the "Sade" anti-missile system in South Korea. In addition, the South Korean government recently decided to sign the "Military Intelligence Protection Agreement" with Japan, which also caused Beijing to be extremely worried.

The Korean media quoted a spokesman for the Navy Command as saying: "We originally planned to have a friendly visit to Qingdao Port by a warship carrying about 600 naval officer schools. We issued an application in advance, but the Chinese authorities did not reply. We had to cancel the plan, shorten the itinerary, and return to the town harbour on December 16." The expert explained that not responding to the application is actually a rejection.

A South Korean Navy Commander said that at the end of March this year, the Chinese representative had promised to allow South Korean warships carrying trainees to enter Qingdao Port, and South Korea therefore included the port. South Korea believes that China’s ban on the entry of Korean ships into Hong Kong is a counterattack against South Korea’s deployment of the US anti-missile system and the signing of the Military Intelligence Protection Agreement. This year, Korean warships carrying trainees visited 12 ports in 11 countries including Russia, the United States, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

South Korean media reported not long ago that China began to impose sanctions on Korean companies in retaliation for South Korea’s decision to deploy the "Sade" anti-missile system. Today, the South Korean opposition party has asked the government to postpone the decision and leave it to the next government for reassessment. The reason for the request of the South Korean Common Democratic Party member is that the impeachment case of South Korean President Park Geun-hye was passed on December 9, so there is no need to rush to fulfill the agreement.
